Presidents discussed energy strategies and cooperation within EU and NATO

New ideas for Lithuanian-Latvian partnership

It was the first state visit of the Latvian President Valdis Zatlers in the past ten years. On Thursday morning - 10th February - the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskait? welcomed her neighboring State of Head in the Presidential Palace in Vilnius. In the bilateral meeting, the Presidents discussed relations and cooperation between the two states within the European Union and NATO.

Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Germany are the top innovators in the now published assessment Innovation Unions scoreboard 2010. All four countries are ranked as Innovation Leaders since they show a performance well above that of the EU27.

The European Union’s first summit on energy has got under way in Brussels with focus on EU energy strategy until the year 2020. Furthermore the energy infrastructure development and the common energy foreign policy, including relations with Russia and Central Asian nations, were discussed issues.
