"Indre Østfold Regional Council" adopts plan for regional youth council
Youths ready to address regional challenges
The subregion called "Indre Østfold" is formed by 10 municipalities. The population is all together nearly 60.000 people. All communities have a local youth council. Now they go together and form a regional youth council. Friday 21th May a proposal with bylaws was put forward to the Regional Council and adopted. The youth council will have the right to meet and speak and forward proposals to the Regional Council.

Smaalenene bridge connecting Spydeberg and Askim at the new E18 between Oslo and Stockholm
New bridge finished
Last week the new bridge between Spydeberg and Askim was finally ready. The bridge which is 300 meter long has a tower at 88 meter and is founded on a 24 meter high column rising from the bottom of river Glomma. The German Bilfinger Berger has carried out the construction works on behalf of the Norwegian state road authorities. The bridge is a part of the larger new E18 motor way project, connecting Oslo and Stockholm. For the towns and settlements in between each new part of the project is a victory itself as the local politicians have been very active in fund raising. Unpopular toll roads are parts of this.

Stein Håland 1952-2009
A great contributor to European cooperation
Mr. Stein Håland has ended his work. It was a great shock for friends and colleagues within the IC Network that one of the founders of the network suddenly passed away.Stein Håland was the mayor of Spydeberg Municipality during the last 14 years of his life. He was elected third time in 2007 with more than 50% of the votes casted directly by the citizens of Spydeberg.

Zemgale is looking ahead
A 13 people delegation from Zemgale planning region was visiting Norway at the end of September. Through an EEA granted project the region is searching for visionary strategies for development of the southern areas of Latvia. The region includes several districts and places like Jelgava, Bauska, Jekapils, Aizkraukle and Dobele. Spydeberg Municipality in Norway is the project partner in Norway. Other IC partners like Notodden Municipality and Mysen Upper Secondary School are also contributing with ideas and experiences.

Spydeberg municipality
Spydeberg is located in Indre Østfold which is a part of the Østfold county in Norway. The population is approximately 5000 inhabitants. It's located 45 kilometers south east of Oslo, alon the highway E 18, which is now undergoing a reconstruction from 2 lanes to 4 lanes. The aim is to cut travelling time and make a safer and better road connection between Oslo and Stockholm. Spydeberg is actively engaged in the IC network and have twinning ageement with Straupe community in Latvia.
