Dear ICN friends and members,
we are happy to announce that Innovation Circle Network together with Planning Aid for Scottland (PAS) and Planning Aid International (PAS’s international arm) will organize the next international summer youth camp. Young people will come together for a bilateral exchange from 12th to 17th of August 2013 in Benmore Outdoor Centre, Dunoon, Scotland. Learn more about the camp and of course spread the word about it -

The news that the Qatari emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has bought six islands in the Ionian Sea for 8.5m Euro is a further indication of changing relations between Europe and its neighbourhood. The EU - and those of us who live in it - still see Europe as the centre of the world. After all that’s what our maps show us and how our daily news bulletins are packaged. This world view is built on a long history during which time - for good and for ill - this small continent really did lead the world.

Waste as a resource

When I get out of office late and rush to do the grocery shopping it happens from time to time that I forget to bring a carrier back. Then I try to bring all items home with my bare hands. This can look extremely ridiculous but at least I saved one plastic bag. As a now published EU research paper proofs I am not as crazy as someone might think.
