April Issue – Make a difference within the Baltic Sea Region

As promised, spring is a busy month: Besides other news we are glad to inform you that Innovation Circle Network partners and some brand new partners are teaming up to make a difference within the Baltic Sea Region and far beyond. Therefore they shaped the idea of the @brand project and applied for the 5th call in the Baltic Sea Region Program 2007-2013. We are curious to pursue the progression of @brand together with you and wish you all lovely holidays and for those who will attend the
Environmental Youth Camp in Tranemo, Sweden an interesting and successful event!

The fact that you are reading this blog suggests that you are used to getting information from the internet. In turn, I get a buzz from knowing that there are readers out there in, and maybe even beyond, “Innovation Circle Land”, who take the time to read what I write and, hopefully, get new ideas. Even a decade ago it was hard to imagine just how web 2.0 would grow into the multiplicity of global interactions that connect the planet today.

Notodden lead applicant in new BSR project initiative

Letīs brand BSR the ambient way!

On Monday Notodden Council decided to go for a new and exciting project. IC partners and some brand new partners are teaming up and want to make a difference within the Baltic Sea Region and far beyond. The general idea is to tell the world that the countries and regions in the BSR are attractive places to live, study and to do business. The project will engage citizens of the BSR, especially young ones, to join into a new virtual community: the "@brand world".

Notodden cinema – best Norwegian cinema in school 2012

Film as a Learning Medium

Every year the organization Film & Kino gives out an award to the Norwegian cinema that has done the best job to give schools not only the opportunity to see films but also to learn about filmmaking and film related topics. This year in February Notodden arranged its first film festival for students from grade 5 to10 in elementary school. A successful project that now was awarded for the “best cinema in school 2012”, in the category small cinema. Winner of the award for big cinemas is the capital city, Oslo.

3. Global Forum on Urban Resilience & Adaptation

Resilient Cities 2012

While cities make efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase urban energy-efficiency, they are at the same time vulnerable. Climate change is already leading to an increased frequency of extreme weather events bringing floods, landslides and droughts while sea-level rise imperils many coastal communities. Focusing on these challenges the 3rd Global Forum on Urban Resilience & Adaptation will invite participants from diverse geographical and professional backgrounds.

Helping young people fulfill their potential

Youth on the Move

About 5 million people in the European Union under the age of 25 are unemployed. The EU and its Member States are responding to this challenge with actions that are designed to boost young people’s mobility, employability and confidence. A recently published Eurobarometer flash survey on youth mobility found that about 53 percent of young Europeans are willing or keen to work in another European country.
