Notodden Blues Festival 31July - 3 August
3 Days Left to Notodden Blues!
The 21st blues festival starts in Notodden 31st of July, the coming Thursday. It all has started when thirteen local blues-enthusiast gave their personal guarantee to the bank - were granted a cash-credit, and the first Notodden Blues Festival became a reality in 1988.
Thankfully, the credit from the bank turned out to be unnecessary, and the festival soon became one of Norway’s most popular music festivals.
Today, the Notodden Blues Festival is the largest "Pure-Blues-Festival" in Scandinavia.
The organizers say it is not their goal to be the biggest. More important focus they give to quality rather than quantity as they already have the biggest blues experience in Europe.
A lot of ideas and inspiration organizers get from the blues birthplace – Mississippi. The Blues and Mississippi are synonymous to music lovers. Notodden blues will offer a special stage to feel the atmosphere of Mississippi, where you get the illusion of sitting right in the Delta area and listen to the "down home" Mississippi-blues from artists such as Pinetop Perkins, Bobby Rush, Super Chikan and Kenny Brown Band.
In origin the phrase "the blues" is a reference to the the blue devils, meaning "down" spirits, melancholy, and sadness. Despite this you can get real fun being in a blues festival.
The city is ready to meet guests. The atmosphere of blues is already here.
